Services
Listening is an important part of communicating. I offer listening, acceptance and being without judgement in my work. As therapist I become the narrator and facilitator of the child's life story. I utilise the Life Story Approach to provide a healing process to traumatized children.
With the contribution of carers and other professionals we all assist the child with their identity. |
Facilitation"It is the process rather than the product which will reveal the most benefits for the children and young persons involved"
(Ryan, T. & Walker, R., Life Story Work 1993) |
MaterialsWe will be using wallpaper to work on as well as collecting the child's art and other work in a book. This collection of stories and memories and other work is for the child to take and keep.
|
CustomizationAlthough I might follow a framework within the Life Story Approach, each work and its documentation of the child's work will be unique-
as unique as the child and his/her story. |
Play is a serious Business
Now we are talking "business", because this is what I make my Practice-my business. Business hours: Mon-Fri 9:00-17:00 (by appointment only) The duration of each session is 1 hour. My hourly fee is $ . Cancellation policy: cancellations need to be made no later than 24hours prior to the appointment time, otherwise the full fee will be charged. You may contact me between sessions by email if you have important information relevant to the child's well-being. As Counsellor I abide by a Code of Ethics guided by the Professional Association of New Zealand Counsellors, as well as by my personal values and those implicit in therapeutic models. To obtain my Annual Practice Certificate I am required to do a minimum of 50 hours of Professional Development each year. To attend any given training opportinities I might have to change our appointment to a differnt day of the week or skip a week altogether. Although I am in favour of consistency regarding our time together, this is the reality of all Counsellors. I appreciate and Thank You for your understanding. |
